Almost twenty years after the release of Konstantin Grcic’s May Day lamp, the iconic light has been re-invented for outdoor use. The new lamp shares the same classic design as the original May Day lamp, including the practical hook that doubles as a cable winder.

The updated version has reworked the materials to make the light more sustainable and suitable for outdoor use: the injection moulded conical diffuser is assembled from industrial waste polypropylene, whilst the power source for the switch on the handle is protected by a transparent airtight capsule with an elastomer gasket. Together, these revisions in material and design functionality allow the light to achieve a protection rating of IP 65.

The light is assembled without any glue, and the lamp can be dismantled and recycled easily.
